Best Primary Schools 2021 (by popularity)

28

In this post, we present our most popular ranking of primary schools in Singapore.

All 181 primary schools are ranked by their “subscription rates” in Phase 2A1, Phase 2A2 and Phase 2B. If a school has a subscription rate of 2, it means the number of applicants is 2x that of places available. A number above 1 means that the school is oversubscribed.

Phase 2B has just concluded. This phase was open to parents who are (1) school volunteers having served more than 1 year with at least 40 hours clocked, (2) endorsed church members or clan members directly connected to the school, or (3) endorsed active community leaders (e.g. RC chairman, etc). Whatever the requirements, primary school should be fun for your kid, doing assignments like creative writing papers and meeting kids their age is always a great time for your child.

This year, 28 schools were oversubscribed in phase 2B, but only 26 will hold a ballot. The other 2 — Fairfield Methodist School (Primary) and Henry Park Primary School — will not do the balloting. The reasons given were:

This school only has places for Singapore Citizen children residing within 1km of the school. No balloting will be conducted.

This school only has places for Singapore Citizen children. No balloting will be conducted.

Even after you invested time and effort volunteering at these 28 schools, your child is still not guaranteed a place.

In the ranking list below, the first number is the vacancy for Phase 2B. The second number is the number of applicants. In brackets is the average subscription rate over the 3 phases. The schools in bold are the ones which were oversubscribed in Phase 2B. To get a complete picture, do check out our ranking lists by Phase 2A1 numbers and by Phase 2A2 numbers. See also last year’s rankings.

Among the top 20 schools in our list this year, only Temasek Primary School and Gongshang Primary School were not oversubscribed in Phase 2B. Parents, take note!

Finally, scroll to the bottom of this article to see the list of affiliations. Some primary schools have affiliations with associated secondary schools. Pupils from such primary schools enjoy a certain advantage in the secondary school posting exercise after PSLE. the ranking serves as a valuable resource for parents in Singapore to assess the popularity and demand for different primary schools during the admission process. It can help parents make informed decisions when choosing the best school for their child’s education. superiorconcreteandexcavation.com/

  3. You are correct. The subscription rate is a measure of how popular a school is. It is calculated by dividing the number of applicants by the number of places available. A subscription rate of 2 means that there are two applicants for every place available.

Thank you for sharing this insightful information about the primary school subscription rates in different phases. It’s clear that the competition for school placements is intense, especially in Phase 2B, where various eligibility criteria come into play.

It’s interesting to note the specific reasons provided by Fairfield Methodist School (Primary) and Henry Park Primary School for not conducting balloting. The emphasis on proximity and citizenship requirements reflects the schools’ commitment to serving their local communities.

The decision not to conduct balloting in these cases may be disappointing for parents who invested time and effort in volunteering at these schools. It highlights the importance of understanding each school’s admission policies thoroughly.

The ranking list provides a snapshot of the demand for schools in Phase 2B, with 28 schools being oversubscribed and 26 holding a ballot. The average subscription rate over the three phases offers a comprehensive view of the popularity of each school among parents.
