The Sunday Times today reported that the income of hawkers can be quite out of this world.
Topping the charts is Mr Lee Chee Wee, who is the owner of Beach Road Prawn Noodle House along East Coast Road. He reportedly makes sales of $139,200 a month (max). Just by selling award-winning prawn noodles.
Coming in close in second place is Mr Hassan Abdul Kadil of Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak at Adam Road Food Centre. He takes in $122,880 a month.
Note that the figures cited above are gross income from sales alone and do not take into account the cost of goods (i.e. ingredients), rental, employee salaries, etc.
Before you go apply for a hawker licence tomorrow, a word of caution: the hawker’s life is hard work. Not all hawkers make so much money. In fact, many don’t even come close.

This just tip of the iceberg, there are more of these “undercover” Millionaire hawkers; and prefer to stay the status quo; so pls dun bring attention in news; don’t sabo us.
the gov must encourage entrepreneurship, not penalise them.
For those parents, better send the child to cooking school . In Singapore, if you can cook well, it is a skill that can earn a good living.
