Civil servants are to receive half a month of bonus for mid-2008, plus the following:
“Officers in the lower divisions, Division III and IV, will receive $250 and $300 respectively. Division I and II officers will receive $100.”
The higher payouts for the lower ranked civil service officers, compared to the higher ranks and also compared to last year’s bonus, are for them to “better cope with the impact of inflation this year.”
Seems inflation is a major concern this year.

i’m in the civil service. any idea what categorise me under each division? i’m taking home gross salary of 2.3k so will i be getting 0.5 mth + 100 or 0.5 mth + 250? well if i’m getting the 0.5 +100 it’s certainly not “helping” me in inflation 🙂
Div I gets $100 if I am not wrong.
Any idea what’s the criteria which classify me under each div? I heard that it’s the gross salary but 2.3k don seem to justify a higher paid civil servant.
I could be wrong, but O Levels and below puts you on Div III, Poly on Div II and uni grads on Div I. I am sure there are other criteria. For example, I know that many Poly grads become Div I after they are in service for a while.
aww man then this yr’s mid-yr bonus is worse than last yr if i’m classified under div II. cheers thanks 🙂
WHAT!!! IF THIS THE CASE, IT DIDN’T EVEN HELP AT ALL. THIS IS SO WORSE THAN LAST YEAR. LAST YEAR THE INFLATION WAS NOT SO SERIOUS & WE STILL GOT $220. COME ON, EVERYBODY KNOW MOST OF US ARE AT LEAST POLY GRAD. HOW CAN WE BE GRADED THE WITH THE U GRAD. WE DON’T RECEIVE THE SAME SALARY AS THEY DO!!! AFTER DEDUCTING CPF, WHAT ELSE IS LEFT… THIS IS SO MISERABLE. IT SOUNDED GOOD TO THE PUBLIC ONLY!!!
