No Try No Strike

Saying that luck plays a part in becoming wealthy is not the entire picture. Do you know that you can actually “boost” your luck?

I’ve said a couple of times that luck plays a part. See this and this.

But if you’re young, time is on your side. If you keep trying, you’ll be lucky one day. Whether you’re starting out on your own, or climbing the corporate ladder, just keep on trying.

If you fail one time, try again.

Hopefully – chances are good – you’ll succeed one day.

Of course, if you set impossible targets like becoming a billionaire by age 18 (or even 81) or becoming the King of England, then you’re bound to fail. Be realistic.

Here’s an interesting analogy. Read on. There’s a twist.

Many of you may know this: it’s been proven mathematically that in lotteries – 4D and Toto – the odds are always against you.

For example, if you bet “small” in 4D, you only have a 1 in 10,000 chance of either striking $3,000 for top prize, or $2,000 for second prize, or $1,000 for third prize.

For every $1 you put in, you are expected to get back only $0.60 in the long run.

Ah, that is, IF you are the average person! What if you’re not average? What if you can do better than average? Or much better?

The average Singaporean earns $2,000 to $3,000. Are you average? Why be average?

In the same 4D example, although the average person will lose $0.40 per dollar he bets, there are also people who will make money. They are the lucky ones. (And then there are those unlucky ones who will lose their pants too.)

What I’m trying to tell you is: If you never try, you’ll never know whether you’re luckier than others.

Maybe that’s why people buy lotteries. No try, no strike.

It’s the same for achieving success in life. You gotta keep trying. No try, no strike. Or better, try until you strike.

So, to boost your luck, just keep on trying…

  1. True–most of us think that we’re special, although in reality we’re just regular joes like everybody else.

But, never try, never strike right? 🙂
